Only Watch out – EveryWatch is the new piece unique auction in town

First of all I’d like to apologise for the punny title – it was simply too tempting. Slated to take place from August 16-23, the EveryWatch charity auction is a collaborative effort between Edinburgh’s Lyon & Turnbull auction house, fellow enthusiasts over at Scottish Watches, and nine independent brands whose great generosity is set to benefit Maggie’s Centres, a British organisation offering free help to those affected by cancer. The lots are made up of pieces uniques and prototypes, and though no estimates have been provided at the time of writing, there’s plenty of potential value on offer here.

anOrdain Model 1 35.5mm prototype

Glasgow-based enamel masters anOrdain are bringing a piece from the archives in the form of this wavy linen-dialled Model 1 in an unusual 35.5mm steel case. The skeletonised gold hands contrast against the purple tones of the striated dial, sitting on top of a manually wound Sellita SW210.

Bamford London B80 prototype

Just like anOrdain, Bamford is bringing a prototype of their recently launched, time-only B80, complete in a blacked-out look with yellow and Bamford blue highlights. Housing a Sellita SW300 automatic, the 39mm titanium case is completely blacked out, paired with an equally stealthy black cordura strap.

Christopher Ward C63 Highlander EveryWatch 01/01

The first piece unique of the list comes courtesy of microbrand daddies Christopher Ward, in the form of a bright blue C63 Highlander. The textured surface is printed with a large EveryWatch logo below the pinion, while the oft-changing Christopher Ward logo shifts again ever so slightly, forming the St Andrew’s cross, the emblem of the Scottish flag – a really neat touch. The motif is repeated on the display caseback, with Scotland’s flag taking up most of the real estate and obscuring much of the Sellita SW200 within.

Fears Brunswick Ice

In an auction so heavily populated by British brands, it’s no wonder that Fears joined the party too. Outfitting their elegant Brunswick with an icy sunburst blue, the tall applied numerals and azurage small seconds sub-dial are just as wonderful as on any other example. The large crown is used to manually wind a top grade ETA 7001 movement powering this one-of-one proposition.

Isotope Hydrium Alba

Isotope Watches are based in Harpenden, and are known for their bold designs blending multiple styles for a sort of minimal, pop-cultural look. The Hydrium Alba is powered by a Landeron calibre visible through a Scottish Watches-emblazoned open caseback.

Paulin 1-1000 prototype

Paulin’s current catalogue suggest them to be more than just a watch design studio, but rather a place that could suit many of your everyday accessory needs – from watches and clocks to small leather goods and umbrellas. The 1-1000 prototype is an eminently curious watch, with teeny hands moved by a manual ETA 7001 set against a moss green dial.

Sartory Billard SB04

I do my best to remain somewhat impartial in matters of taste, but good heavens, is this unique Sartory Billard SB04 a stunner or what? With an interlocked dial texture composed of the Maggie’s Centres logo, it serves as proof that design restraint is an art form in itself. The highly polished skeletonised alpha hands and applied sector ring perfectly match the 40mm steel case that houses a La Joux-Perret G100. The only way this could be even better would be in a tantalum case – but maybe that’s me projecting a little too much.

Studio Underd0g Blueberry

Studio Underd0g’s food-inspired releases continue with the Blueberry – I feel like the reason for its name is fairly obvious. Apart from the dial colour that is still applied to a highly textured main portion and the EveryWatch logo silkscreened onto the display caseback, the Blueberry is identical to SU’s Seagull-powered column-wheel chronograph line-up.

William Wood Valiant Model 1 of 1

Standing out in a sea of blues, blacks and greens is William Wood’s unique Valiant in burnt orange. Rather than going with a blue to honour the national colour of Scotland, William Wood opted for this bright hue to pay homage to the colour of Maggie’s Centres. The 41.5mm steel case contains a Sellita SW200, and is mounted on the brand’s signature firehose strap.
