  • New bracelet and straps are now available for the Breguet Type XX ref. 2067 and Type 20 ref. 2057.
  • The three-link stainless steel bracelet features a comfort easy-fit system that allows 1.6mm of micro-adjustment on each side of the butterfly clasp (3.2mm total).
  • The bracelet configuration has a US$3.2k premium over the strap configuration.

Last year, we published an interview with Breguet CEO Lionel a Marca, in which he gave us the exclusive news that a new stainless steel bracelet was in development for the new generation of Type XX / Type 20 collection. At launch, the collection was solely available on leather or NATO straps. Nine months later, this highly anticipated bracelet has finally been revealed.

As a Marca had teased, the new bracelet does not utilise an interchangeable system as the straps do – it must be affixed and removed using tools. It is executed in a three-link style with the entirety of the top-facing surfaces richly brushed, and the articulating sloped facets mirror-polished. On the shoulders of the link, a thin polished bevel adds accents of luxury to its aesthetic.

In the centre of the clasp, a polished plaque bears the engraved Breguet name, and the clasp is where things get interesting. It’s a butterfly-style clasp with two folding arms, with a comfort easy-fit system that allows on-the-fly extension of 1.6mm on each side (3.2mm in total) to better fine-tune the fit. To further size the bracelet, each removable link is secured by screws. Looking at the render and images, it appears the links are compact in length which suggests that, micro-adjustment aside, you can get a close fit.

Now, should you already have a new generation Type XX or Type 20, I do not know the price of the bracelet on its own at this time (we will update this article once we have the information). In terms of the retail price of the watch on a bracelet, it is listed at US$23,200 – which is US$3,200 more than its price on a strap. This is a rather hefty premium for a bracelet, which also suggests the purchase of the bracelet alone for an existing customer may be quite steep. Pricing aside, although important, I do think the bracelet looks nice on each of the respective models and adds further dimension to the collection.

Speaking of further dimension, new strap configurations have also been added to expand the lineup of options. There are three new NATOs (green, grey, and brown), and two new leather straps in black calfskin with either beige stitching to match the Type 20, or green stitching to better match the Type XX. With the interchangeable system in play for the straps, new factory options are certainly welcome to quickly switch between.
