This lottery offers a free night in the Musée d’Orsay clock room for the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games
Zach BlassWho doesn’t like to travel? The only aspect that works against travelling is the cost of doing so. Well, in this recently unveiled lottery opportunity, there are no free flights or transportation. Still, there is a once-in-a-lifetime free accommodation on the table that will appeal to those who love design, horology, Paris, and the Olympic Games. Two lucky guests will have the opportunity to stay overnight in the Musée d’Orsay clock room, and the evening in question is the night of the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
“For the first time ever, and for just one night, the museum’s iconic clock room will be transformed into a bedroom,” the room’s designer Mathieu Lehanneur explains. “I’ve crafted a unique space that is both romantic and contemporary, intimate yet sumptuous. Surrounded by the works of the greatest Impressionist painters, I invite you to experience the most beautiful night in Paris, watching a truly historic event – the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games Paris 2024.” The room has been outfitted with highly curated decor and furniture, and there is even a Paris 2024 Olympic Torch which Lehanneur himself designed for the Olympic Games.
Limited to two guests, the pair selected will not only be able to stay within this historic space, but also have private access to explore the museum’s Impressionist collection, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience to visit a space that is not open to the public. Furthermore, the Musée d’Orsay will serve the selected two guests a gourmet French dinner that “showcases the finest French classics.” The cherry on top: the Musée d’Orsay will allow the two guests to have access to its rooftop terrace that offers an incredible view of both the river Seine and the Opening Ceremony of the Games.
The clock within the museum dates back to the previous purpose of the building, formerly a railway station 125 years ago. Visitors of the museum often take photographs of this clock and peer through its dial to look out across the city of Paris. So, to have this space temporarily transformed into a private bedroom for two lucky guests presents an unforgettable evening on its own. But to have such an experience coincide with the Opening Ceremony makes it that much better.
