Bausele becomes the first Australian brand in the Time+Tide Shop

Founded and designed a short flight away in Sydney, Bausele’s philosophy centres around detaching from the humdrum of everyday life and trading the constant pings and borderline harassment from modern technology for the sights, sounds, and colours of the outdoors. Bausele’s core range is built on tool watches, staying true to the aesthetics and trademarks of traditional diver’s and field watches.
Starting with the Sellita-powered Sydney Diver, they’re appropriately named after the hometown of the company and designed with the beautiful blue waters and waves of Bondi, Coogee, and Manly in mind. With 200 metres of water resistance, stainless steel construction and screw-down crown, they’ll do just fine at what it says on the tin. If you fancy catching some waves on a board, or favour one of Bausele Founder Christo’s sunrise swims, you can trust that a Sydney Diver will serve you well – it’s what they were designed to do, after all.
A nice touch with all the Sydney Divers is in their unique crowns, filled with soil from US military forts. Bausele does not hide the fact that it has been influenced by 1940s military watches, but the company does pay this forward by supporting armed personnel in several ways. They have supplied watches to the Army Intelligence Corps as well as some Special Forces units. A real highlight in Bausele’s short history was creating the official watch to mark the Royal Australian Air Force’s 100th anniversary in 2021. They then went on to become the official watch of the Invictus Games 2022, a global event that serves to support wounded and injured military servicepeople through sport.
How about those that favour the hills, mountains and trails? Well, Bausele offers their Classic Field collection for the ramblers and explorers among you. Whether it’s trekking through one of Australia’s jaw-dropping nature reserves, or hitting the trails on your mountain bike, the Classic Field is certainly a consideration in the entry-level field watch category. With a 38mm case assembled from stainless steel, this watch is built tough, but keeps a low profile on the wrist. The case houses the Seiko NH38 movement, with 41 hours of power reserve.
The Classic Field core range is available in two colourways, the Onyx Black and Desert Sand. Both options come with alternative NATO-style straps to switch up the style of the watch, and are packaged neatly in a peli-style case – all in keeping with that military vibe that the Classic Field watches were inspired by. Designed to be worn on a comfy NATO-style strap, the Classic Field is built to the guidelines of vintage field watches that saw use in World War II, but with modern specs such as the five-layer anti-reflective coating to its sapphire crystal.
Bausele creates watches for those with a strong outdoor mindset, appealing to those looking for an independent manufacture applying their own identity and creativity to classic tool watches. It would also be remiss of me not to highlight the not-so-secret love we have for a homegrown Australian watch brand offering a great product at such a punchy price point.
