From car seats to supercars: A heart-racing ride with Seiko
Mitchell BarberI used to love racing. When I was a teenager, I would pull all-nighters trying to improve my lap time on Forza and customising my Nissan GTR on Need for Speed Underground 2 (GOATED). But now, as a father of two, the closest I get to ‘motorsport’ is trying to buckle my daughter into her car seat while she’s flailing her arms around like a drunk octopus. Putting your kids in their car seats is a task that, if you haven’t experienced it before, requires you to have the grappling skills of a Jiu-Jitsu black belt. The dads out there know what I’m talking about.
When Seiko recently invited my esteemed colleague Alex and me to go for a ride in a V8 Supercar to celebrate the recently released SRPL01 limited edition that honours the brand’s enduring partnership with the Repco Supercars Championship in Australia and New Zealand. They have been sponsoring the series for over ten years and are a key partner for some of the teams involved.
I gave up on buckling the small child in and went straight there. I was excited, to say the least. What I didn’t expect, however, was the sheer terror I would be subjected to when I got there. I was feeling pretty confident as I pulled my fireproof suit on, but the nerves started to kick in as I was sitting in the pits. I had my helmet at the ready, my gloves were on, and I was running through racing lines from my old XBOX games in my head.
Looking as cool as possible, I climbed into the seat of the Orange 600hp Camaro ZL1 and looked over to the man who held my life in his hands. As a 39-time Supercars winner, Mark Winterbottom was well qualified to scare the living daylights out of me. And that’s what he did. The speed at which Mark went around corners is incredible, and even more impressive is the guts he had to go all in, hitting curbs at full speed and putting the car and me to the test. It’s an incredible sport.
It took me a few minutes to regain my composure after my ride, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching Alex stumble out of the car after his. We won’t be forgetting the experience for a long time. I want to thank Seiko for inviting us to this fantastic event, and a big thank you, Team 18 and Mark for not holding back. You guys are awesome.

Ask a parent who their favourite child is, and you will likely get the deflecting answer I love all of my children equally. Ask a watch collector what their favourite or go-to watch is… They will definitely have an answer. Whether or not we are in denial, deep down, we all have an answer.

6 of the best Casio G-Shocks, including icons old and new
If you asked someone to name a watch brand, it’d probably be a coin flip as to whether they answer Rolex or Casio. G-Shock especially is almost synonymous with digital watchmaking, and where else would you turn if you wanted a watch that could survive being run over? There’s no shortage of iconic models, but from adventure-ready beaters to summer-loving streetwear, Casio G-Shock has you covered. And Buffy has you covered with six of the best G-Shock icons to look into.
Andrew, Marcus, & Zach share the watches they would never be caught dead wearing
One person’s trash can be another’s treasure, but some of the watches mentioned may be more unanimous in their disdain. Others, perhaps, may stand to shock and surprise you in their nomination. Ultimately, the trio share why they would rather fall on a sword or grenade before they would strap these watches onto their wrists. Make sure you leave a comment on the video with your thoughts on their picks and your own personal picks as well.
Hamilton updates the Murph 38 with a bracelet and white dial
Unfortunately for the smaller-waisted, the first-gen Murph measured 42mm in diameter – which was just too large for some. So, when Hamilton dropped the Murph 38mm in 2022, it was no surprise to see so many flock to the new release. Two years on, and just in time to celebrate 10 years since Interstellar hit the silver screens, Hamilton is refreshing the Khaki Field Murph 38mm line-up with two new models – one featuring a steel bracelet, and the other a grained white dial.
