Suit up with Omega De Ville Trésor

Omega’s recently updated line of De Ville Trésor presents as a compelling proposition for anyone looking for a beautifully made, elegant dress watch.

And, for the first time in the De Ville Trésor family, there’s now the option of steel-cased models, which can be had in a few different iterations.

For a start, there’s this gorgeous blue dial example, ref. 435.13.40.21.03.001, which looks positively replete with its almost linen-like textured aesthetic.

And when paired with slender and sophisticated 18k white gold indices, as well as hour, minute and second hands, this is a watch that offers a great amount of wrist presence, but without shouting about it – it’s a charming timepiece.

In addition, the dial, as well as the sapphire crystal, is domed, which gives the Trésor an impression of real depth.

Inside the svelte stainless steel 40mm case, which measures just 10.6mm thick, the new dress watch houses Omega’s prodigious Calibre 8910, a manual-winding movement that benefits from a great many impressive features.

These include a date complication, the Swiss marque’s signature Co-Axial escapement, 72 hours of power reserve thanks to twin barrels, Master Chronometer certification approved by METAS, silicon balance spring, and magnetic resistance rated to 15,000 gauss.

Furthermore, as a result of being fitted with sapphire crystal on the case-back as well as the front, owners have the opportunity to admire the Calibre 8910’s rhodium-plated finish, which looks particularly arresting thanks to the Geneva wave finishing in arabesque.

Fitted snugly between the curved lugs is a complementing deep navy blue alligator leather band that incorporates a traditional pin buckle.

For those looking for a dress watch that’s perhaps a little bit more of an extrovert, another iteration of the steel Trésor range is this dazzling beauty, ref. 435.18.40.21.02.001.

Thanks to a fully paved bezel adorned with no less than 70 striking diamonds, as well as a chic, silvery opaline dial, this Trésor runs a clinic in restrained opulence.

Attached to the glimmering case is a black alligator leather band, and I personally reckon this watch would perform admirably with a black tie ensemble.

The Omega De Ville Trésor collection is of course still available with precious metals, and this solid 18k yellow gold model, ref. 435.53.40.21.09.001, is particularly fetching.

The dial, for example, is a brilliant white ivory enamel number which features Grand Feu techniques and enamel prints, and it does a wonderful job of contrasting the honey-yellow hew of the solid gold case.

Unlike the steel models, this Trésor also features 18k yellow gold indices, hour, minute and second hands.

The keen-eyed among you may also notice this precious metal example has done away with the date complication.

In fact, the solid yellow gold Trésor actually utilises a slightly different movement to that of its stainless steel siblings.

It’s called Calibre 8929 and, for the most part, it offers all the same features as the Calibre 8910, such as manual winding, 72 hours of power reserve, METAS-approved Master Chronometer certification etc.
