In the rising warmth of the European summer, we fortunately have a couple of new ocean-inspired watches bringing a breath of fresh air to this torrid weather thanks to Ulysse Nardin and Oris in particular. We also have some ice-cold gem-set watches to lower the temperature even further with debuts from Parmigiani Fleurier and Gerald Charles, plus a fan-favourite affordable watch brand collaborating with a Spanish football legend.   • Parmigiani Fleurier has released three more references for the Tonda PF Automatic 36mm.
  • These small-cased watches showcase glamour yet maintain PF’s signature ‘private luxury’ sensibility.
  • Despite their size and use of 18k rose gold, they’re still water-resistant to 100 metres and have great movement specifications.

Ulysse Nardin Diver Atoll

  • Ulysse Nardin strengthens its connection to the sea with the introduction of an elegantly dressed diver.
  • The dial is made of chrysocolla, a colourful mineral that reminds one of an overview of a distant atoll, hence the name.
  • The watch is limited to 100 pieces and each one is almost unique because of the nature of the material used for the dial.

  • Gerald Charles unveils for the first time the predecessor to the Masterlink collection, with its asymmetric integrated bracelet.
  • It was made as an exclusive piece for the Royal family of Sarawak, a state in Malaysia.
  • It features over 15 carats of gems that completely cover the timepiece in diamonds and rubies.

Czapek & Cie Place Vendome Complicité Stardust Cobalt

  • Czapek introduces a new variation of its double regulator Place Vendome Complicité.
  • Developed in collaboration with Lederer, this time there’s a change in the crystal used, from a sapphire box to a domed one.
  • While maintaining the overall look, this time the grey finish of the dial is completed by heat-blued hands and indices.

Monta Noble Voyager

  • Monta, famous for its comfortable bracelets, presents a new complication in the Noble case.
  • Maintaining a very slim profile and 150m water resistance, the American brand adds a GMT complication to its more elegant line.
  • Available in the already successful sunray blue dial, there’s also the addition of a green dial with the same finish.

Oris Aquis Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition IV

  • Oris reiterates its support to the Australian non-profit Reef Restoration Foundation with a new Aquis model.
  • Based on the 43.5mm case of the Aquis Date, it’s equipped with a (almost scratch-proof) tungsten bezel.
  • The blue-green gradient dial features a radial finish starting from the top to mimic the effect of light in sea water.

Nivada Grenchen Chronosport

  • The new Nivada Grenchen Chronosport is a remake of an unreleased 1970s prototype.
  • The original dial was manufactured by Singer, who also made Rolex Paul Newman Daytona dials.
  • It’s even powered by a Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph movement for retro-thematic accuracy.

Waltham A17 Pilot

Waltham A17 Pilot

  • American-rooted company Waltham has released the A17 Pilot in homage to the A17 – originally specified by the USAF in 1948.
  • It was initially created to accompany long-range bomber crews based in Europe, but then saw use during the Korean War and later.
  • The watch is full of vintage touches, from the ‘lollipop’ seconds hand to the knurled bezel and caseback.

Casio x Andrés Iniesta G Shock 5600 Series

  • Casio honours Spanish footballer Andrès Iniesta with an iconic G-SHOCK 5600 series.
  • While pretty conservative at first glance, all texts on the dial are in red and yellow, the colours of the Spanish National team.
  • Other than the name of the player on the lower side of the dial, when the light is activated, the silhouette of one iconic goal appears.

Apiar Invenire

  • British microbrand Apiar presents the Invenire as a testament to the highly technical engineering it advocates.
  • The case is made in titanium grade 23, with a process of additive manufacturing that allows complex shapes.
  • Not only are its cases British-made but so are its dials – made by Bedford Dials specifically – with a CNC-made texture available in multiple colours.
