GWD and W&W Shanghai Special: new releases from Daniel Roth, Laurent Ferrier, Zenith, and more
Pietro PillaThis past week, two major events of the industry took place: Geneva Watch Days and Watches & Wonders Shanghai. As you can probably guess, this led to a massive amount of novelties from numerous brands, not just from the participants of the events themselves, but also to all those who wanted to benefit from the enormous media coverage at this moment. We did our best to include as many of our favourites below as possible. Don’t hesitate to let us know if we forgot something worth talking about, and enjoy reading!
Daniel Roth Tourbillon Rose Gold
- The revived Daniel Roth brand is back with its second watch, the Tourbillon Rose Gold.
- The model is a limited production of 50 pieces a year, with pricing on request.
- It adds a pin-stripe guilloché pattern to the dial and a sapphire exhibition caseback.

Zenith Defy Skyline Tourbillon Felipe Pantone
- Zenith partners again with Argentinian graffiti artist Felipe Pantone after the success of their Piece Unique for Only Watch.
- Using the stainless steel Defy Skyline Tourbillon as a canvas, this time indexes, hands, and tourbillon cage get a rainbow heat treatment.
- The dial is reminiscent of the surface of CDs, with an engraved sapphire disc associated with a reflective silver layer giving a magical iridescence.

Laurent Ferrier Classic Auto Sandstone
- Laurent Ferrier expands its Classic collection with its sixth boutique edition of 20 pieces.
- The rose-hued dial changes with the light but always exudes a warm tone accentuated by the brushed finish.
- The stainless steel pebble-shaped case houses the calibre LF 270.01, initially designed for the Sport Auto.

Tudor Black Bay Chrono Blue
- Tudor follows up March’s Black Bay Chrono Pink with the more versatile Black Bay Chrono Blue.
- Specifically, it utilises a dark shade known as “Tudor Blue”, made famous by the Tudor Submariner “Snowflake” and Oysterdate Chronograph “Montecarlo”.
- A boutique edition, it also comes mounted on a five-link bracelet with a T-fit clasp.

Bulgari Octo Roma and Finissimo
- Bulgari has released a trio of minute repeaters exploring the tritone and dissonance in melody.
- The tones were composed with the help of Swiss conductor Lorenzo Viotti.
- The three watches are the Octo Roma Grande Sonnerie Tourbillon, the Octo Roma Carillon Tourbillon, and the Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater Carbon.

MB&F x L’Epée 1839 Albatross
- MB&F has teamed up with L’Epée 1839 yet again, this time for a fictional aircraft from the mind of Jules Verne.
- The Albatross isn’t just a desk clock, but also a repeater and an automaton with spinning propellers.
- It has 1,520 components across two movements, and its 8-day power reserve is wound by turning the horizontal propellers.

Studio Underd0g and H. Moser & Cie. Passion Fruit
- Studio Underd0g & H. Moser & Cie. is a fitting team-up, as both brands are known for being playful and rebellious.
- The pair, however, play at very different price points – Moser at the high-end, and Underd0g at the more accessible end.
- Both passion fruit-inspired watches have purple and gold dials, but the 100-piece limited edition will be sold strictly as a set, priced at US$64,900.

Vacheron Constantin Fiftysix and Métiers d’Art
- The Holy Trinity brand expands its entry-level Fiftysix and high-end Métiers d’Art collections for the 2024 Watches and Wonders Shanghai fair.
- The new, 18k 5N pink gold Fiftysix Self-winding introduces a black dial to the collection, inspired by mid-century classics, as its name suggests.
- In anticipation of the next year of the lunar calendar, Vacheron Constantin creates tribute pieces for the Year of the Snake, combining miniature painting, engraving, and enamelling.

A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Handwerkskunst
- A. Lange & Söhne flexes all of its muscles with the new Datograph Handwerkskunst for the 25th anniversary of the model.
- The engraved dial features a tremblage finish, with black rhodium treatment on the main part and light rhodium one on the two counters.
- The intense hand finishing also continues on the movement, with black polish on the chronograph levers, and a granular look on the bridges and on the three-quarter plate.

Micromilspec Milgraph
- Norwegian brand Micromilspec takes all the experience matured with custom military watches and pours it into the new Milgraph.
- Other than being the first model available to the public, it’s also its first timepiece that combines GMT and chronograph complications.
- The 42mm case is crafted from grade 5 titanium, and despite the size wears extremely well, also thanks to the lightweight material used.

De Bethune DB28xs Aérolite
- De Bethune presents the third iteration of the DB28xs model, again showing the intention to expand the 39mm line.
- This reference houses the caliber DB2005, which offers 6 days of power reserve despite the extreme thinness of the watch.
- The real showstopper is the blue meteorite dial with random guilloché and a starry sky with white gold stars.

Armin Strom Dual Time GMT Resonance First Edition
- With a 39mm white gold case, the Dual Time GMT Resonance is Armin Strom’s smallest resonance watch to date.
- Sporting vertically arranged going trains, the new ARF22 calibre puts the brand’s patented resonance solution on full display.
- This First Edition model is limited to 25 pieces, and priced at US$120,700.

Oris Divers Sixty-Five LFP Limited Edition
- Oris has two new releases for Geneva Watch Days: one is a new Aquis Chronograph, the other a limited edition Divers Sixty-Five made in conjunction with France’s Ligue De Football Professional and the children’s charity CNAPE.
- The Aquis Chronograph has been refreshed with a lighter case profile, a tapered bracelet and a reworked dial with improved legibility.
- The Oris x LFP Limited Edition is a Divers Sixty-Five with a steel rotating uni-directional bezel and a specially made dial featuring colourful dial scripts and a playful Oris logo.

Christopher Ward C60 Trident Lumière
- Boasting a titanium case and a trio of retro dial finishes, the C60 Trident Lumière combines tool watch bona fides with on-point vibes.
- It features Globolight lume made from fusing Super-LumiNova and ceramic for a three-dimensional glow.
- The movement is a COSC-certified Sellita SW300-1, aiding the slimness of the 10.85mm case.

Konstantin Chaykin ThinKing
- With a thickness of just 1.65mm, the ThinKing is the latest brainchild from Konstantin Chaykin, though only in its second prototype stage.
- The key-wound movement uses the proprietary steel case as a baseplate, with an additional module available that adds rigidity, hand and automatic winding, but also crucially, thickness.
- The ThinKing achieves this feat with a redesigned barrel and balance wheel assembly, both with pending patents.

Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon 38
- Arnold & Son expands the Perpetual Moon 38 collection with two models in red gold sharing the case introduced in 2023.
- One model features a blue aventurine dial and the other has a grey sunburst finish, but they both share the big opening for the moon phase.
- Both limited editions have a hand-painted moon covered by a translucent layer of mother of pearl which shines into the dark thanks to the lume.

Albishorn x Massena LAB Maxigraph
- Massena LAB is aiding the introduction of a new independent watch brand called Albishorn with a limited collaboration.
- Albishorn was founded by Sébastien Chaulmontet, who has major experience in some of the best modern Swiss ébauche makers.
- The proprietary movement features a patented, retrograde 10-minute regatta timer.

Doxa SUB 300T Aristera
- The SUB 300T gets a Destro treatment and a new name “Aristera” which is the Greek word for “left”.
- If you are a lefty or just hate crowns this might be for you, being the first Doxa watch with the crown on the left side.
- The stainless steel case and beads of rice bracelet, together with the iconic orange dial remain part of the DNA of this model.

Lederer Observatory Chronometer
- Lederer has always had extreme chronometry as one of its main pillars, and in this new Triple-Certified Observatory Chronometer, it’s even more evident.
- This limited edition of the constant chronometer CIC will face three evaluations from the independent Observatories of Glashütte, Besançon, and Geneva.
- The movement of the minutes’ hand in this model follows the rhythm of the remontoire d’egalité every 10 seconds, and you’ll able to track it thanks to the tiny indicator in the centre of the skeletonized hand.

Gerald Charles Maestro 4.0 Ducati 30° Anniversario 916
- The Gerald Charles Maestro 4.0 Ducati 30° Anniversario 916, if you couldn’t tell from the name, celebrates the 30th anniversary of the legendary Ducati 916 motorbike.
- It blends inspiration both from the original 916 as well as modern Ducati output, such as the carbon case and the tri-spoke wheel.
- It’s an automatic watch with a jumping hours complication and 100 metres of water resistance.

Breitling Navitimer, Chronomat and Premier Perpetual Calendar 140th Anniversary
- Breitling shows what it’s capable of doing by giving a perpetual calendar complication to its three most iconic collections.
- This is part of the 140th anniversary celebration and each model is limited to 140 pieces.
- All three models share rose gold as case material and black as the main colour both on the dial and for the strap.
Favre Leuba Chief, Deep Blue and Sea Sky
- Favre Leuba is returning to the watch world for the third time since 1985, this time with three whole collections.
- It was founded in 1737, making it one of the oldest watch brands around.
- The three new collections include the ’70s-styled Chief, two versions of the Deep Blue dive watch, and a recreation of the vintage Sea Sky Chronograph.

Longines Legend Diver 39mm
- The Longines Legend Diver 39mm is now available with three new polished lacquer dials – terracotta, green, and anthracite.
- This 39mm size debuted in 2023, offering a middle ground between the prior 42mm and 36mm models.
- Outfitted on a beads of rice bracelet, driven by a 72-hour automatic movement, and priced at US$3,400.

Nivada Grenchen Chronoking and Chronomaster
- Nivada Grenchen introduces one mechanical chronograph and a mechaquartz chronograph with a little revolutionary easter egg.
- From this moment onwards, in all Chronomaster models, it will be possible to swap the bezel completely tool-free and choose the style and function that works in that moment for you.
- While the mechanical model has a black-and-white reverse panda dial layout, the mechaquartz model has a black dial with bright orange accents.

HYT T1 Millésime Editions
- HYT unveils seasonal limited edition takes on the new T1 Series.
- The three new dial colours – green, purple and chocolate brown – are evocative of the shift from autumn to winter, as well as winemaking.
- “Millésime” is a term taken from the world of winemaking, which refers to a particularly good vintage.

Alpina Heritage Automatic
- These two new Heritage Automatic watches are inspired by Alpina designs from the 1920s and 1940s.
- One variant has a uniform beige dial with black numerals and indices, the other a beige central medallion surrounded by a sunray silver ring with bronze-toned numerals and indices.
- Both are stainless steel, 38mm in diameter, and available beginning in October for US$1,795.

Louis Moinet Speed of Sound
- Louis Moinet brings back to life the legendary calibre Valjoux 88 in the contemporary Speed of Sound model.
- The dial features a stunning (and very intricate) guilloché interrupted only by three meteorite subdials framed by a brushed gold circle.
- The movement, visible through the sapphire caseback, is decorated with a traditional floral engraving, adding even more charm to an already iconic calibre.

Frederique Constant Classic Moonphase Date and Tourbillon
- Frederique Constant has released limited edition variants of the Classic Moonphase Date Manufacture and Classic Tourbillon Manufacture with malachite and aventurine dials.
- The Classic Moonphase Date Manufacture features the brand’s recent FC-716 calibre with a 72-hour power reserve.
- Both watches are limited to 36 numbered pieces.

Trilobe Nuit Fantastique Ombre and Lumière
- French independent brand Trilobe presents two art brut-inspired takes on its Nuit Fantastique models in 38.5mm and 40.5mm sizes.
- With three distinct rings displaying the hours, minutes, and seconds, the Nuit Fantastique uses a modified Le Cercle des Horlogers micro-rotor calibre dubbed the X-Centric.
- Despite this well-finished and complicated approach, the duo is relatively affordable, priced at €10,800.

Gagà Laboratorio Labormatic Cinquanta and Bauhaus
- Gagà Laboratorio is the brainchild of the creative minds of Gagà Milano founder Ruben Tomella and tattoo artist Mo Coppoletta.
- This artistic marriage gives us two models making the point to tell the time in an unusual way.
- These first two models are combining outer space and Art Deco inspiration in a completely reworked Gagà Milano case.

Casio x Fratello x IFL Watches G-Shock CasiOak Moonlander
- Celebrating 55 years since the 1969 moon landing, Fratello has collaborated with customiser IFL Watches to create the Moonlander CasiOak.
- IFL watches brought the concept to life by pairing a Casio 2100BB-1AER with a meticulously detailed, hand-painted dial.
- The dial features a star-laden backdrop of outer space, including a detailed moon and Apollo 11 lunar module.

Maurice Lacroix Aikon Titanium
- Maurice Lacroix continues its “Year of Materials” by introducing four new Aikons with titanium cases and bracelets.
- While the two automatic versions have a mixed finish on the bracelet, the two chronographs have a fully brushed one.
- The automatic features a grey monochromatic edition and one with a purple dial, with the latter being present also in the Chrono collection, together with a gold-coloured dial.

- Piaget opts for the avant-garde with its first-ever ceramic-cased watch.
- Featuring a black ceramic case with black DLC titanium elements, it’s a futuristic statement of intent from the Maison.
- Powered by the in-house, ultra-thin, micro-rotor calibre 1200S1, it’s 7.5mm thick: only 1mm thicker than pre-existing Piaget Polo Skeleton steel and gold models.

- The love the Portugeiser received at W&W in Geneva continues at W&W in Shanghai, with a new Moon and Tide indicator model.
- This new watch is the stainless steel variation of the rose gold model introduced in 2020.
- Instead of the typical 60 meters depth rating, this time the timepiece is water resistant up to 100 meters.

- Aventurine glass dials and diamond indices grace the latest edition of Czapek’s popular integrated bracelet sports watch.
- The Czapek Antarctique and Antarctique S Flying Diamonds feature elongated diamond markers invisibly set into the dial, and cut in a style unique to the brand.
- Limited to just 8 pieces of the larger and 18 pieces of the smaller model, the Antarctique Flying Diamonds is priced at CHF 42,800 and CHF 38,000, respectively.

- New Grand Seiko SBGY035 & SBGA499 limited editions celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 9R series Spring Drive movement.
- The dials are inspired by the autumn sunrise over the Hotaka mountain range.
- The SBGY035 has a rock-patterned auburn red dial while the SBGA499 has a slightly brighter sunburst red dial.
