Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium
Fergus NashDive watches have a firm grasp on the watch industry as an established style, however, field watches are beginning to be contenders for the best daily wearers. Between their legibility, comfort, versatility, and water resistance, a good field watch could easily set you up for life. Manufacturers typically go for a less-is-more approach to echo the style of 1930s military watches, but the new Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium range includes a healthy dose of jazzing up, courtesy of a brand-new titanium bracelet.
Time+Tide is the authorised Hamilton dealer in Australia. You can find the entire Khaki Field Titanium range in the T+T Shop.
Hamilton’s place in watchmaking is deservedly legendary, going from one of America’s leading brands to a provider of high-quality Swiss watches at affordable price points. They know how to cram as much value as possible into a watch, and the Khaki Field Titanium collection is a particularly good example. Titanium is nearly 50% less dense than stainless steel, while being 3-4 times stronger. That means it feels much lighter on the wrist, and can handle a bit more abuse. That said, it does tend to scratch more easily when uncoated.
Making sure that the series can accommodate wrists of all sizes, the Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium is available in two case sizes. The larger is pretty standard with a 42mm diameter and a height of only 11.45mm. That’s fairly impressive considering the automatic movement and the 100m of water resistance. For smaller wrists or fans of a more vintage look, there’s a 38mm case that’s 11.68mm in height. The new braceleted model is available in two configurations across the two sizes, with a two-tone blue fitted to a brushed titanium case and bracelet, and a stealthy all black PVD number.
<p”>The dials are a blend of sophistication and classical military appointments. The large 12-hour ring and smaller 24-hour ring are typical of field watches, as are the luminous syringe hands. The upper-class touches come from the azurage ring which runs underneath the numerals, giving the otherwise subdued designs a touch of visual interest.
All of the Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium models are powered by the Hamilton H-10 movement, which has become a modern classic of Swatch Group catalogues, especially for its 80-hour power reserve.
The Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium is available in the T+T Shop. Prices start at A$1,675 (38mm) and A$1,825 (42mm).
