Mark Zuckerberg spotted with new Patek Philippe

In a recent Instagram post, Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg shared a photo with his arm around his wife, Priscilla Chan, with a glimpse of a watch case and crown peeking in from the side. The eagle-eyed watch community was straight on this, and while Zuck confirmed it in the comments of his own post, a few had already surmised that it was the new Patek Philippe ref. 5236P perpetual calendar – we were first put onto this by preeminent watch-spotter Niccoloy. Upon closer inspection of the image, we’re pretty sure it’s the 2024 salmon dial version given the colour of the strap in the image.

Zuck’s interest in watches seems to be remarkably recent for someone of his net worth, only seemingly coming around after a video going viral earlier this year of both Mark and Priscilla admiring Anant Ambani’s Richard Mille RMS-10 Asia Tourbillon Koi Fish at one of the many celebrations for the Ambani wedding. Before this, Zuck has never really been in the watch world, maintaining a minimalist, and quiet luxury look, famous for wearing the same t-shirt and hoodie every day to the office.

With this new Patek on his wrist, could we be seeing a new era for Mark in the watch world? He certainly has the capital to become a serious collector overnight, and now he seems to be evolving his style, wearing chains, and getting a little more creative.

This instance also highlights just how incredible the watch community can be. It doesn’t take much for us to move quickly and identify the exact model of a watch. Of course, here having the Calatrava cross on the crown is a pretty big giveaway as to which brand we’re dealing with, but it takes someone with an intimate knowledge of the Patek catalogue to identify that reference from such a small, and grainy image. Now we just need to find out what else, if anything Mark has in his collection, and how far down the rabbit hole will he go?
